Sexual Harassment Has No Place In The Work Place

In spite of some news-making cases, sexual harassment is still going on in the American work place. Sexual harassment is a crime and the perpetrators of it need to be treated as criminals. The person being harassed should never be made to feel that they are over-reacting or taking things too seriously. Sexual harassment in the workplace is inexcusable and US laws exist to protect the innocent from the ramifications of sexual harassment on the job. Sexual harassment attorneys specialize in these cases and can usually determine quickly if a sexual harassment case actually exists and if legal action is needed to protect the victim of the crime.

Sexual harassment in the work place can be directed at both men and women. It can come from supervisors and managers and other superiors. Occasionally, cases of sexual harassment from fellow coworkers have been reported. Regardless of whether the victim is a man or a woman, if the harasser is low-, mid- or top-level management, or a coworker, the harassment should be reported and the victim should be able to expect the harassment to stop immediately without any endangerment to their own job. If that is not the result of reported sexual harassment, checking into sexual Harassment Attorneys should be the next logical step for the victim.

If the victim takes the step and checks into sexual harassment attorneys, he or she needs to be able to detail the instances of harassment to the attorney with specific and clear details. The attorney needs ammunition if he or she is to defend and protect the victim from future instances of sexual harassment as well as ensuring past instances of harassment are addressed and proper action taken against the perpetrator. Depending on management's actions when the harassment was reported, the victim may deserve compensation for what he or she was forced to endure in order to protect their job. Putting up with sexual harassment should never be allowed to be a condition of continued employment.

Sexual harassment attorneys can protect victims from any backlash that may develop as a resul;t of the victim taking action against the harasser. If continued employment is not possible, the company may be forced to accommodate the employee's right to his or her salary as well as pay punitive damages to the victim. Sexual harassment may not be considered a violent crime but it can have far-reaching and devastating effects on the victim and it should never be condoned.

Defining Sexual Harassment - Isiah Thomas and Browne Sanders

By Paul Davis
How do you define sexual harassment? A federal jury awarded Anucha Browne Sanders $11.6 million to be paid by Madison Square Garden and its chairman for damages in a sexual harassment lawsuit. It seems (pending appeal) the jury found NY Knicks coach Isiah Thomas made unwanted advances to Browne Sanders and also verbally insulted her. Nevertheless Thomas (who confidently says he's innocent) escaped having to pay punitive damages.
